The long-standing tourism boycott campaign - recently been abandoned.
The government opposition party (NLD) steps forward a more welcoming approach contrary to its previous boycott on “Visit Myanmar Year (1996)”. Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of the National League for Democracy (NLD) held on 19, May, 2011 came the Statement No 10/05/11 with the final paragraph that says “The NLD would welcome visitors who are keen to promote the welfare of the common people and the conservation of the environment and to acquire an insight into the cultural, political and social life of the country while enjoying a happy and fulfilling holiday in Burma.” |
VISA ON ARRIVALTo those who live in the country where there ISN’T Myanmar Embassy/Consulate can apply the pre-arranged visa-on-arrival with us. It takes 2weeks time to process in collaboration with the Home Affair Ministry. Applications are processed due to the passengers’ intended date of arrival. Though we may start up earlier, the result is out only 3-4 days before you arrive. It’s 100% work and reliable UNLESS you are involved (directly/indirectly) in any political movements in the past/present and your name/data appear in the BLACK-LIST of the Ministry. For ordinary tourists, every on-arrival-visa application is approved. We have applied many times in the year and not a single applicant had ever been denied.
