goes to victims of Cyclone
Nargis!
Myanmar's
most populated regions,
Irrawaddy delta and three other
states were ripped by cyclone
Nargis, blasting 120-150 mile
per hour winds which smashed
into Burma on 2 and 3 May 2008.
Irrawaddy Division has been
severely affected. Latest
information suggests more than
100,000 confirmed dead. The
death toll is likely to rise
with more than 40,000 people
still missing. Over 1 million
people are now homeless.The
public health catastrophe of the
cyclone has already started.
Diarrhea is spreading very
quickly and could wipe out
survivors. Water and
mosquito-borne diseases like
cholera, dengue and malaria are
serious concerns. The survivors
desperately need shelter, clean
water, food, basic health care
and sanitation. In order to help
the victims of this deadly
disaster, we are making out this
small corridor. The finance
received will be directly
distributed to the affected
people through our local Burmese
networks.
