Natmataung is also known as Mt. Victoria. It was given as a present to Queen Victoria of England in commemoration of conquest on Myanmar. Above 10200 ft above the sea level, Matmataung is the highest in Chin State.
It is regarded as the best bird-watching spot among birding enthusiasts. Being an extension trip from Bagan, it takes 3days/2nights for a normal person to reach to the summit.
Globally vulnerable and nearly threatened species of birds are recorded such as Hume’s Pheasant Syrmaticus humiae, Blyth’s Tragopans Tragopan blythii, and etc. Tattooed Chin women in Mindat, a basement town on the way to Natmataung, are another fantasy for the visitors. The trip to Natmataung (Mt. Victoria) is a mixture of exploring the nature & the charming way of life in a remote area of Myanmar.
