Kyaukmyaung majestically lies on the western bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Sail up from Mandalay in the River and arrive in Kyaukmyaung, the town of pottery. Almost all the household in the city earn their living by making various design of pot. It is a few miles away from the Shwebo, the capital of the Konbaung Dynasty.

No matter how the stainless steel and plastic wares substitute the use of pot, its demand is still high. You can see every household even in Yangon, a pot on a stand in the living room is regarded as valuable as other modern wares. The willingness of using pot in every household has made Kyaunmyaung a city of pottery in Myanmar.
