Undiscovered Mergui Archipelago adventure
To the southernmost part of Myanmar (Burma), there
scatter over eight hundred islands on 3600 km along
the shore and in the Sea Andaman rich with
bio-diversities. "The Mergui Archipelago" and the
remote Burmese Banks are today the "must" for every
serious sea lover. Myanmar opened its rich waters to
foreigners in 1997, after a closed period of over 50
years. More than 800 islands are waiting to be
explored and during the cruise, we visit the magical
unspoiled islands of the Mergui Archipelago.

DETAILED ITINERARY |
|
Day 1.
Yangon |
|

Arrive in Yangon where you will be welcomed by your
local tour guide and transferred to your hotel. Late
afternoon visit the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda of
Rudyard Kipling fame and one of Myanmar’s most
sacred places. The massive bell shaped stupa is
plated with gold and the tip of the stupa is set
with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and topaz – a
stunning sight as the sun sets and a most fitting
place to begin our trip in this “Golden Land”.

Day 2.
Yangon – Kawthaung by flight. |
|
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport and
fly to Kawthaung, formerly called Victoria Point, is
the southern-most town of Myanmar. Upon arrival,
transfer to live board Seaworld1 or Sea world and
meet the cruise director and crew. Relax with a
tropical welcome cocktail while cruise director
giving a short boat briefing and excursions tour.

Day 3.
Diving Mergui Archipelago |
|
Before breakfast, we begin our dive at High Rock
with commonly found seahorses and plenty of soft
coral and cup coral.
Proceed to Steward Island for
another dive while enjoying leisure breakfast on
board. 1 dive at Steward Island famous for it's
caves and strong currents. After lunch, continue to
Rocky Island, a small barren island, perhaps 60 m
wide, which is home to hundreds of painted spiny
lobsters and some playful nurse sharks. Proceed to Nga Man Island and Relax on the beautiful beach of
Nga Mann island. We will do a night dive there.
Overnight on board.

Day 4.
Diving Mergui Archipelago |
|
This moring, we will do 3 dives at Three Islet
(Shark Cave). The main island is split with a
submerged channel wh ich turns into a cave and is
home to resident grey reef and silvertip sharks.
Often found guarding the entance are several grey
reef sharks, long-fin trevally and silver sweetlips.
On the far side of the bowl a tunnel leads to the
other side of the island and a beautiful hard coral
reef. After Three Islet, only 1 dive left for today
at Mac Carthy. The site also prone to strong
currents due to it’s exposed position.
It is worth the effort as it has a wall
covered in soft corals, a lot of fish
including Barramundi Cod and Jenkins
Whiptail rays. This evening, continue
cruising to Macleod Island and overnight
on board. |

Day 5.
Diving Mergui Archipelago |
|
Macleod Island is one of the unspoiled islands in
the Myeik (Mergui) Archipelago which is perfect
place for diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking and
fishing, as well as birds watching, short trekking
and jungle safari. We will have 3 dives at Macleod
Island and sightseeing and walk on Myanmar Andaman
Resort. Before lunch, continue to A-One dive site
and will do 1 dive. After lunch, continue to Western
Rocky and 2 dives at Western Rocky Pinnacle. The
underwater landscape is a spectacular forest of
enormous gorgonian sea fans. Overnight on board. |

Day 6.
Return to Kawthaung |
|
Before breakfast, we will do 2 fun dive at Western
Rocky which is the southernmost dive site in Burma's
Mergui archipelago. The most popular section of the
dive site however is the tunnel that runs all the
way through the middle of the island. After diving
at Western Rocky, our boat sail back to Kawthaung
while enjoying your breakfast on board. Arrive
Kawthaung in the afternoon and transfer to your
hotel in Kawthaung. Overnight at the hotel in
Kawthaung. |

Day 7.
Kawthaung – Yangon by flight.
|
|
After breakfast, you may wish to stroll around
Kawthaung's bustling waterfront lined with teashops,
stores and shops. Mid morning, transfer to airport
for your return flight to Yangon. Upon arrival in
Yangon, transfer to your hotel to drop off the
luggage. If time permit, we will continue by car to
Karaweik, a royal barge for fantastic photo shot
along the “pilgrims” causeway across the Royal Lake
with stunning views of Schwedagon Pagoda and
Chaukhtutgyi pagoda, a huge reclining Buddha image.
After lunch, we plan to visit the Bogyoke Aung San
Market (Scott Market) for souvenir shopping.

After breakfast at hotel, you will be transferred to
Yangon International airport for your return
international departure flight. |
