Bikes & Bicycling: All the biking on the tour is on paved roads. The quality of the road surface is variable. Most of the road is good to adequate but there are several sections that may cause some discomfort. A touring bike or hybrid bike is most appropriate for the trip. It is strongly recommended you have your bike tuned up--including new belted tires--before leaving on the trip. The principle traffic in rural areas is trucks, buses and bicycles. In rural areas private cars are a rarity. The older buses and trucks often belch huge clouds of exhaust fumes.
Support Services : Myanmar bike adventure tours are fully supported by our 7Days crew in order to limit your biking on any particular day, and our support vehicles will be there for you. Our support vehicles is loaded with purified water, seasonal fruits and some snack to refill your energy.
Accommodations : All the hotels utilized are clean and comfortable. With a few nights' exceptions in remote destinations where accommodations are simple and basic.
Weather : November is the beginning of Myanmar's dry and cool months. You can expect high temperatures in the 30°C during most of the tour as we are biking in the central dry zone of Myanmar. Sunscreen is not widely available in Myanmar so be sure to bring an adequate supply with you on the trip. If we have any rain on the trip, it should be limited to an occasional light shower.
Air Transportation : You will be responsible for arranging your own flights to and from Myanmar. The most frequent service is from Bangkok on Thai Airways and Silk Air (Singapore Airlines' regional carrier) from Singapore. Be certain to check with your air carrier about their current policy and requirements for transporting a bicycle as one of your pieces of luggage or free luggage as a sport equipment.
Food and Water : All the meals indicated on the following itinerary are included with the tour package. B = Breakfast; L = Lunch; D = Dinner. We have attempted to build a menu that will meet your nutritional requirements during an extended period of strenuous activity and will also allow you to enjoy a variety of local and ethnic cuisines. Vegetarian diets can be accommodated. The tap water available throughout the tour is not potable. An ample supply of bottle water will be available to you throughout the trip.
Health Requirements : No vaccinations are officially required for a visit to Myanmar. Malaria prophylaxis is no longer needed. However travelers should check with their doctor regarding the advisability of inoculation against typhoid, hepatitis and tetanus, etc.
